Coach Q
Coach Quentin Johnson takes pride in the development of players who start at every level. Started coaching 7-8 year olds as a freshman in high school and has been using his experiences and training practices to develop every player he trains. Using his teaching and education background, he is able to analyze players' habits and break down the specific areas they can improve on and excel at.
Growing up outside of Atlanta, Coach Q started playing in 3rd grade and eventually graduated from Chattahoochee High school in 2013 with over 150 points, a 4 year letterman, and a 3 year captain. From there, he attended Emmanuel college for one year, scoring over 60 points, and then transferring to Berry College. During his time in Rome, Ga, Coach Q became the all-time career assist leader, had the most assists in a game, amassed over 130 points, and was the programs first and only solo team captain. He ended his senior campaign being named to the SAA 1st team, being named the SAA offensive player of the year, and a USILA All-American.
After college, Coach Johnson got a master's degree in Athletic Training at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and helped coach the Soddy Daisy High School lacrosse team to a 2019 State Championship. Shortly after, he moved to Rochdale, England to work as their club pro.
Moving to Savannah in 2020, Coach Q began teaching and coaching at Richmond Hill Middle School, where he stayed for 3 seasons (1 year was spent coaching at the high school). He now coaches at Calvary Day School for the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams.
Coach Q has been with the Hawksbills lacrosse program since 2020, and was recently named the Director of Player Development in 2024 where he oversees the the training and development of all players in the programs. He helps design the seasons goals and coaching curriculum as well as their in-season player development clinics.
In the spring of 2024, Coach Johnson created Low Country Legends and Coach Q's Sports Academy to help develop the area's top lacrosse players and help other athletes reach their peak form. He has created the areas first lacrosse recruiting showcase, the Savannah Frost winter camp, and the Dodging and Defending invitation series.
